Claire and Adam wanted a timeless and warm barn wedding with a major emphasis on the fun factor – and that’s exactly what they got! With deeply personal touches to the bride’s late father, Claire and Adam’s I Do’s were celebrated to the fullest. Let’s take a closer look into their beautiful wedding story!
Tell us about the proposal!
Adam asked me in my favorite place! I had won a shopping party at a local boutique, so he chose that day to have my friends distract me while he set it up. He asked by having all our friends and family hand me roses on a path to him to our family game room. I am a bit of a sleuth, so it was wild that I was totally surprised! We had been talking about taking the next step together, but I had no idea it was coming that day.
Describe your bridal style. How did you want to look on your wedding day? Tell us about your dress-shopping experience.
I had no idea what I wanted when I went in other than that I wanted an A-line dress. I was very nervous about finding a dress that would fit me. I have never had as positive of an experience in a store than I did at Luxe! I felt like all the dresses were made for me, and it was so fun to get to try many different styles. Suzanne was great at picking the things I was loving about the dresses, and then finding new dresses that had different qualities to add to the ones I was loving. I could not have had a better experience at Luxe, and will recommend it to everyone I talk to!

Tell us more about your wedding. What was your theme and color scheme? How did you make your wedding personal to your love story?
Our wedding was at a renovated barn venue. We went for mostly neutrals with some navy blue for our color scheme. I wanted a very timeless look, and tried not to lean too much into the rustic vibe. To make our wedding day personal to us, we chose to write personal vows in addition to the traditional ones. We added inside jokes about each other, as well as the things we love about each other. Looking back on our wedding, this was my favorite choice that we made.
What was the most special memory from the day?
Other than the exceptionally fun dance and getting everyone together, my favorite memory was lighting a candle in memory of my Dad in addition to the Unity Candle. My Dad passed away about four years ago, and it was so special to light a candle with Adam to signify Dad watching over us and our marriage. To make it even more special, right after we lit the candle, the sun peeked out of the clouds after being overcast all day. We truly felt like it was him letting us know that he was there and proud of us.
